The Community Champions programme harnesses the insight and relationships of Stockport’s volunteer community in order to improve health outcomes of local people.

Volunteers acquire crucial information about the communities they work in – what they need, what they do and don’t like, what works for them and more. Being part of the Community Champions programme provides volunteers with the tools to delve deeper into their communities to draw out insights on health issues. The insights gathered can then be used to help shape local health services, ensuring Stockport’s diverse communities get the best out of their health service and ultimately enjoy greater health benefits.

The Community Champions programme is delivered by Sector 3 and funded by Stockport Council.

Why should my organisation get involved?

Volunteers play a crucial role in our communities – through their volunteering tasks they get to know the needs and priorities of their neighbourhoods.

By tapping into this information and insight, we can use it to better inform the public services that communities rely on. With the aim of improving health outcomes in the long run.
